Biography
Roland is a family doctor in Montreal, and associate professor at McGill. He started clinical practice in 1986, and later obtained a Master of Science in Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics from McMaster University.

Given an interest in research-based information, Roland's research centers on the use of evidence in everyday clinical practice. Since 2003, his work to develop and validate the Information Assessment Method (IAM) is funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research. To improve the performance of health professionals, research is needed to understand the benefits of using clinical information.  IAM is a promising tool for (1) CME research on e-learning, focused on evaluation of practice-based education, how to stimulate reflective learning, and (2) understanding how health professionals use research-based clinical information. In our work, we have shown that among family physicians, achieving search objectives and types of cognitive impact will influence the use of retrieved clinical information for a specific patient.
