Hello,

I have been working with Roland Grad since 2001, and I am principal co-investigator of our study. You will find below a short biography and a French family recipe for ice cream, which has been developed by my aunt from France, Maîté Perrin. This recipe is very simple (my children, Mathilde 9y and Martin 7y, help me to make it since they are 4y), and will lead you to make the best not-expensive healthy ice cream. I like sports in general and I bike to work. I have been working part-time in clinical practice and part-time for an international NGO in 1990s, and then came to Montréal for studying in public health. I fell in love with Lucie Nadeau (Lucie's family is from Québec City), stayed in Montréal, and started a second career in research. I really enjoy the life in Montréal, my family, and our research activities!

BIOGRAPHY: Pierre Pluye is MD, PhD, Assistant Professor, Department of Family Medicine (McGill University), and Associate Member of the Department of Social Studies of Medicine (McGill), the School of Information Studies (McGill), the Division of Experimental Medicine (McGill), and the Centre for Clinical Epidemiology and Community Studies (SMBD Jewish General Hospital). He is McGill co-representative at the Canadian Cochrane Network and the Réseau Cochrane francophone. Pierre has worked as a General Practitioner in France (MD), and he is a specialist in Public Health and Social Medicine (PhD in Public Health & Health Promotion, Université de Montréal). He obtained New Investigator Award from the Canadian Institute of Health Research (CIHR) and the Fond de la recherche en santé du Québec (FRSQ). He has expertise in mixed methods studies and complex literature reviews (concomitant reviews of quantitative, qualitative and mixed methods studies). His current CIHR-funded studies examine the application of information derived from electronic knowledge resources in and outside clinical settings.

RECEIPE: For 1 kg of raspberries (you may also use strawberries or a mix of raspberries and strawberries), you will need 1 or 2 lemons (you may also use 1 lemon and 1 lime), 300 g (healthier) or 400 g of sugar, and some milk (at your convenience). Step 1: Put fruits in a blender to obtain mashed raspberries, press the lemons to have a juice, and prepare a natural syrup (put the sugar in a pot with some water -e.g., half a glass-, mix water and sugar, and cook them up to the 'bullé', i.e., up to obtain a boiling transparent syrup that bubbles in the pot). Step 2: Mix mashed raspberries, lemon juice, syrup and milk; taste, and add more milk if you want to. Step 3: Put the result in the freezer, wait 24 hours, and enjoy it!
